The engine oil that is present in all types of common vehicle engines functions mostly as a lubricant. It creates a slippery film between moving metal parts within the motor. As a result heat, friction and wear are reduced.
Engine oil deteriorates over time and starts to lose its lubricating properties. It also picks up and suspends minute and carbon particles that are present in any engine as it wears and ages. This means that old oil does not work well as a lubricant and can even act as a scouring agent, causing further wear inside the motor.
If the oil is not changed for a very long time, it will convert to a very thick sludge that could stop the motor from functioning at all and is very difficult or even impossible to remove.
Don’t let the inside of your car’s motor get into the disgusting state of the one in this video clip – make sure you get the lubricant oil changed at regular intervals to prevent poor performance and possible engine damage.
