Many people use heating oil as a fuel for their furnaces or boilers. Usually heating oil is stored in an above ground storage tank somewhere on the property. This tank is then connected via narrow pipes (or “lines”) to the furnace or boiler.

Most homeowners pay little or no attention to the state and condition of their home oil storage tank or the attached lines – adopting the same approach most people adopt towards their plumbing, i.e. wait until something breaks before fixing it.

Ongoing, routine maintenance is vital to prevent oil loss that can cost you a lot of money as well as presenting a safety or environmental hazard.
